An Action-Adventure videogame with RPG elements about trust and problem solving without violence (Or not quite?)
Normenhill is the kind of game that'll probably click with you if you enjoyed Undertale or Deltarune. It blends classic adventure vibes with turn-based RPG mechanics pretty smoothly.
The story kicks off with a Light Being falling into a World of Darkness and ending up in a skeleton form – and that's who you're playing as.
What really stands out is how you deal with the characters you run into. Just like in Undertale and Deltarune, you don't have to fight everyone. You can try talking things out, cracking jokes, throwing out threats – all that good stuff. But to actually pick the right option, you'll need to pay attention or just go through some trial and error.
On top of that, there are classic platforming elements too. You can stomp on enemies' heads to stun them, solve puzzles to open up new paths, and find hidden items along the way. As you progress, you level up and improve your character's health, attack, and defense stats.
Since this is just the first act, it leans a bit more into tutorial and introduction territory. But once the later acts drop with more enemy variety, new areas, and expanded dialogue options, the pace is definitely going to pick up.
The game mixes a bunch of inspirations – pixel art that reminds you of Undertale, platforming that gives off Hollow Knight vibes, and a battle system that feels a bit like Final Fantasy. No game-breaking bugs or glitches so far; everything runs smoothly. The one thing that might not sit well with some players is that the game focuses more on dialogue and story than on nonstop action. So if you're more into fast-paced combat, this might not fully be your thing.
All in all, it's the kind of game that leaves you curious about what happens next, how the story's going to unfold, and how it'll all end – making you actually look forward to the upcoming acts.
