When the Embers Wake is a narrative, walking game.
In the game, you control a red panda. It’s a story-driven game, and we see the relationship between Emmie and her mother through the eyes of the red pandas.
The first thing that will catch your attention in the game is the atmosphere. It has a very calm, serene, peaceful and laid-back atmosphere. The music also really enhances this atmosphere. The game succeeds in evoking the emotions it intends to convey.
However, whilst playing, we noticed that there are some issues with the Turkish subtitles. In some scenes, the subtitles are missing. In others, there are errors due to the special characters used. Once these are corrected, it will be a welcome development for Turkish players.
The game’s third-person camera perspective is a great choice for the atmosphere. The visual details are striking and intriguing. The silence and tranquillity you experience whilst walking make the game wonderful. The tension it builds in certain scenes is well done.
Whilst playing the game, we also get to know the wild nature of animals more closely. Thanks to its realistic portrayal, we also bear witness to the suffering endured by innocent animals.
If you’re Iooking for a story-driven, narrative-based game, this is perhaps the only truly playable and well-crafted example of the genre.
