NO-AI-ACT is an adventure and simulation game.

The game is set in a dystopian world in the year 2032, and we play as an inspector. Our aim is to investigate 13 different case files involving artificial intelligence systems, classify these systems according to their risk levels, and prepare a report. The gameplay loop generally proceeds as follows:

We open the case file. We examine and assess the complaints received. After reviewing them, we must present at least two pieces of evidence to include in the report. We select the evidence. We then choose the appropriate classification for the AI system from the options: low risk, medium risk, high risk, or ‘should be banned’. We sign the report and observe the consequences.

Every report we sign alters the city’s structure. If we’ve made an incorrect classification and signed the report, we can see the effect of this on the city. Another positive aspect is that the game is browser based. To play, you simply need to visit the website and launch the game.

But of course, it may not satisfy every player’s preferences. It is a text-based game. Constantly reading text may not satisfy some players. Furthermore, if you wish to play again after finishing the game, the scenarios remain exactly the same. There are no changes. In other words, the game’s replay value is low.

If you’re looking for a text based, browser based game set in a dystopian world where your choices shape the events, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a go.
