To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Electronic Arts (EA) has relabeled Criterion as 'Criterion: A Battlefield Studio,' focusing exclusively on the popular franchise for now. Although they have previously contributed to Battlefield since 2015's release, this rebrand signifies a shift in priorities away from other projects such as Need For Speed. However, Criterion retains the possibility of returning to develop games outside of Battlefield.
